Ramadhan, Porn and Poverty

Within these months there are 3 issues that hanging around in our National or Local newspaper and most of my blogger friend, and the issues are Ramadhan, Pornography Law and Poverty.

When all the issue became one of the topics in most of my blogger friend, and followed by the news in TV or newspaper, I only participated in the commentary field by giving my thought on each of my blogger friend.

So now when Ramadhan near to the end, I strongly believe that the last two issues still hanging there, while the issue of Ramadhan will vanish and forgotten until the future Ramadhan come again.

The issue during Ramadhan, as far as I remember, only in the terms of “how to prevent the fasting people from break their fasting”, the terms that lead to the robbery of human right to work in the night entertainment, spa; that lead FPI by doing the anarchist damaging to the club or restaurant which under “their terms” of night entertainment.

The terms that finally got endorsement from MUI that the blue collar people who work in that kind of place under night entertainment category must be able to find a “Halal” job and this is the lesson that they have to learn.

So, during Ramadhan, those blue collar people have to joint the million un-employed people in Indonesia.

Well, Ramadhan will be over soon and now people are busy discussing of how bad the government treatment for the people to celebrate Ied at their home town, there’s no follow up discussion of banned restaurant, alcohol and sex; no follow up discussion of how those people’s lived.

Start from the 1st day of Ied, all banned category back to normal and the issue will come to surface when next Ramadhan coming.

The other issue which relate to Ramadhan is Poverty.

As we have seen in TV or read in the newspaper or other blog, there are 21 people died because of charity (zakat) activity, the activity for the rich people to show their generosity to the poorer, and it only happens in Ramadhan since Ramadhan is the month to do all the good deeds.

So similar to the banned one, Poverty will also slowly vanish from the news, especially since one of the ministers stated that Indonesia level of poverty have decrease compare to last year. Whilst actually through the news we could see that even in our lovely capital several story of how children have to loose their opportunity to get an education just because of “money”, of how parents have to loose their sick children just because of “money”, and the case like Pasuruan, our lovely capital city have the same story like that last year.

Same as Ramadhan Rules, the Poverty also will slowly vanished and replace by Pornography Law.

Well, this one, it could be the Hot Topic after Ied, since this is the last vehicle for politician to gain the “Moslem” voter. The issue where people suddenly forgotten their evil dress and rush to buy their “angel” dress.

The new regulation that I believe that will lead to another vandal act, another bribery by the government, another ratification of condemning the insulting action of human right again.

And this time, suddenly I feel so tired to express my anger to those three kinds of issues, not because somebody has written in their blog. I just tired because at the end I felt that all the posting seems going nowhere.

We just sit at the corner and discussing this kind of issue, like we discussing the entertainment rumors during lunch time.

I felt nothing this time, or in other terms “apathetic” …

I hear you... I once angry and feels want to do something, but then again I realize we can't do anything, it's useless to make this country a better live. It's so corrupt and won't care about its citizens.

So, I join you on the "apathetic" side..

Ecky - The Writer : Couldn't agree more than you. Even am afraid to dream of the better Indonesia.

Why be afraid to dream and hope for a better Indonesia?

It is our hopes and our dreams that keep us alive. The drive for a better world for our children and our children's children.

Don't get me wrong, Indonesia has problems but with a little bit of vision and some tenacity these problems can be overcome!
Rob : The answer because we have been exhausted to wait. I know that we should put our hopes and dreams for a better world for our children and our children's children, but those issues become worst than when I was in my kids age.
